About the event
Te Whare Mauri Ora (TWMO) is a model that interweaves positive psychology and Te Ao Māori concepts, worldviews and frameworks. It pulls on Dr Martin Seligman's PERMA V, 5 ways to wellbeing, Nā Mason Durie's Te Whare Tapa Wha, gratitude, holistic wellbeing, Mauri ora and life experience. Western knowledge of psychology and ancient concepts of well-being have also been incorporated into this holistic model.
This programme aims to promote the integration of the indigenous wellbeing and psychology model into mental wellbeing practice. Upon completion of this course, the learners should be able to:
Describe and explain the seven aspects of the TWMO model
Discuss the model in a holistic way
Apply the TWMO model to their clinical practice
Integrate the model and practice it in a multi-culturally competent way
